Hello, dear readers,

My name is George Hamilton, and I’ve had the pleasure of being immersed in the fascinating world of tobacco for more than two decades. I’m currently based in the beautiful city of Bristol in the United Kingdom, surrounded by its vibrant, diverse culture and rich history.

I started my journey in the tobacco industry back in 1998 with the multinational corporation, British American Tobacco (BAT). I held numerous roles there, starting as a junior research scientist before working my way up to become a Regional Head of Quality Assurance. After gaining a wealth of experience and knowledge from BAT, I joined Japan Tobacco International (JTI) in 2010, where I assumed the role of Senior Leaf Specialist and further honed my skills.

Throughout my career, I’ve been privileged to travel around the globe, from the vast tobacco fields of Virginia in the USA to the meticulously maintained plantations of Vinales in Cuba. These experiences have given me an in-depth understanding of tobacco varieties, cultivation methods, and the complex process of crafting quality tobacco products.

In 2016, I was incredibly honoured to receive the prestigious ‘Tobacco Scientist of the Year’ award from the International Tobacco Growers’ Association. It was a proud moment that encapsulated my dedication to the industry.

But my journey in the tobacco world is not solely defined by my professional experiences. As a hobby, I’ve developed a keen interest in cigar pairing, experimenting with different combinations of premium cigars and spirits to discover exciting, new taste experiences. I write about this and much more in my blog, aiming to share the joy of tobacco with enthusiasts around the globe.

When I’m not engrossed in all things tobacco, you might find me in a small Bristol cafe, enjoying a well-brewed cup of coffee and a good novel, or on the golf course refining my swing.
